Easter and Birthday at Grandma and Grandpa's!

We finally made it down to my Mom and Dad's for Easter and Lydia's birthday! We got there on Saturday morning and hung out for a little bit and watched a DVD picture slide show on their AWESOME flat screen television! A few of the cousins were there, Ethan and Blake as well as my sister, Hannah.

We hung out some inside and then took the kiddos outside to play on the giant trampoline. The kids sure love it! Lydia would cry every time someone jumped because she could not keep her balance and jump!

After playing outside and watching the video we came in to have Lydia's party. Yes, her birthday was in May, but hey, better late than never! She loves it when we sing happy birthday to her!

I was trying to be a sweet, loving, sharing and kind sister by offering Hannah a cupcake. She says, "I don't like cupcakes?" Seriously, who does not like cupcakes? Well, like I tell my kiddos, you still have to try a bite, so I applied the same rule to my sister, Hannah. I never did find out if she actually liked it or not....hmmmm....

Yea, that triangular side burn thing I have going on....I don't know either! lol

And then, we finally did the Easter baskets, yea, my mom hung on to them this whole time...I am surprised the candy was still in them!

Well, that was the beginning of a fun filled weekend with family! We had alot of fun at my mom's, and the kiddos made off with too many goodies, especially Lydia! As a matter of fact, she did not want to leave! She planted herself right on top of the mailbox!

So, after prying Lydia off Grandma and Granpa's mailbox, we loaded up and went to Jason's Dad's for a family reunion there!

WOW! You Can't Beat the Splash Pad...Seriously!

Seriously, there is nothing funner on a hot summer day than to go to the splash pad! It is the "perfect" day.

I go work out, take a shower at the Y, then go straight there. As soon as we get there, we eat our picnic lunch, and off to the water! They have so much fun playing, and there are always people we know there! The kiddos play until about noon, and then we change and head home.

On the way home, the little ones fall asleep, staying asleep for at least 2 more hours after getting home, which means I get some real work done!

And, on top of all this, I just found out you can eat lunch at the park for free at noon, so I could save on the making and packing of lunch!

WOW! You can't beat a day at the splash pad, seriously!

Oh, and btw, does anyone know how to rotate a picture on the blog?

April Rose Is a Fake

The baby, April Rose, I asked everyone to pray for was a hoax. This is an article that was published. It is so sad, please still pray for her...she needs lots of prayers still, just for something other than her "baby."

by Kim Janssen - Jun. 11, 2009 05:51 PMChicago TribuneCHICAGO -

The unmarried mother's story about giving birth to a child diagnosed as terminally ill in the womb hit a major nerve on the Internet.Every night for the past two months, thousands of pro-life moms across the nation logged on to a blog run by the suburban Chicago woman who identified herself only as "B" or "April's Mom."People said they prayed that God would save her pregnancy. They e-mailed her photos of their children dressed in pink, bought campaign T-shirts, shared tales of personal heartache and redemption, and sent letters and gifts to an Oak Lawn P.O. Box in support.

As more and more people were drawn to her compelling tale, eager advertisers were queuing up, and established pro-life parenting Web sites were promoting her blog - which included biblical quotes, anti-abortion messages and a soundtrack of inspirational Christian pop songs.By Sunday night, when "April's Mom" claimed to have given birth to her "miracle baby" - blogging that April Rose had survived a home birth only to die hours later - her Web site had nearly a million hits. There was only one problem with the unfolding tragedy: None of it was true. Not the pregnancy, and not the photos posted on the blog of the supposed mother and Baby April Rose, swaddled in white blankets. The baby was actually a lifelike doll, which immediately raised the suspicion of loyal blog-followers."I have that exact doll in my house," said Elizabeth Russell, a doll maker from Buffalo, N.Y., who had been following the blog. "As soon as I saw that picture, I knew it was a scam."

By Monday, outraged followers on dozens of Christian parenting Web sites unmasked "April's Mom" as a hoaxer, and hundreds more vented their anger."She needs to be exposed and held accountable," Russell said.Sensing people were close to establishing her identity, "April's Mom" on Monday raced in vain to delete her Web site, Twitter and Facebook accounts. But it was too late.

The online community found out her true identity: Beccah Beushausen, a 26-year-old social worker from Mokena, Ill.When reached by the Chicago Tribune on Wednesday, Beushausen admitted to the hoax."I know what I did was wrong," she said. "I've been getting hate mail. I'm sorry because people were so emotionally involved."There's no evidence that Beushausen benefited financially in any significant way, or committed any crime.

Still, Russell said she doesn't understand how anyone could create such a convincing tale that preyed on other women's emotions.Beushausen says she really did lose a son shortly after birth in 2005. She started her blog in March to help deal with that loss and to express her strong pro-life views, she said. She had only expected a handful of friends to read it, but when her first post got 50 comments, she was hooked."I've always liked writing. It was addictive to find out I had a voice that people wanted to hear," she said."Soon I was getting 100,000 hits a week, and it just got out of hand. I didn't know how to stop ... one lie led to another."

Though Beushausen said she used her real-life experiences and deeply held beliefs as a basis for her fictionalized account, her devoted fans didn't read it that way."I feel emotionally exploited," said Jennifer McKinney, a Minnesota mom who runs the widely read Christian parenting blog mycharmingkids.net and nearly lost her fourth child during pregnancy. She said Beushausen sought her out to help promote her site.In retrospect, McKinney says, Beushausen pursued her support "more aggressively than anyone else ever has," adding that Beushausen seemed more interested in attracting viewers than in her unborn child."I have 11,000 Twitter followers, and I drove most of the traffic to her blog," McKinney said."My readers were praying for her, and I feel guilty about that," she said."But I have to admit her stuff was beautifully written."

Raechel Myers, a friend of Beushausen's from college, heard from someone earlier this year that Beushausen was going through a difficult pregnancy. Myers and her husband, Ryan, had a daughter who died at birth, so they did more than most to support Beushausen."When I heard that she was pregnant I called her and said if she needed anything, I was there for her," said Raechel Myers, now living in Nashville, Tenn. She said she spoke to Beushausen almost every day for the last few weeks.Myers sold T-shirts online to benefit Beushausen and Pass, a Tinley Park, Ill., pro-life pregnancy clinic Beushausen asked them to donate to. The couple said they also sent her a few hundred dollars.Even after learning of the hoax, Raechel Myers said she and her husband don't regret their involvement."She's someone who needed love and attention and we gave her that," Raechel Myers said.

Beushausen and her father said the stress of being exposed caused her to spend two nights recuperating in Palos Community Hospital."I couldn't handle it anymore," she said, adding that she plans to write one final blog post, coming clean and apologizing to her fans. Her father said he only learned of his daughter's double-life Wednesday morning."She's a very talented young lady who hit some hot buttons," he said."She knows she made a big mistake."

Praying for April Rose

Hello!

*note added at end

I have been following a blog where a woman was pregnant and just had a baby born with trisomy 13, the baby's name was April Rose. They were updating the blog hours after having her, but were running into some very hurtful comments people were leaving. They since have taken their blog down. I pray all is well and I am asking that my friends and family please say a quick prayer for her. The last update was that the mom and baby were on their way to the hospital, they were not feeling well. It was a home birth. Please pray.

Note: I have recieved some info stating this was a false blog...not a true story. This may be true, however, please pray for her anyways...either way she is in need of prayers, the mom that is, she went by "B"

New Weight Loss Blog

Hello friends and family!

We are in the process of starting a new blog about weight loss, fitness, and healthy eating. It is still in the works and we are not exactly sure the details of how it will work. Anyone can join who is interested in being motivated, losing weight, healthier eating, physical health, or can offer anything on any of these topics.

Right now I am setting up the page itself. I will soon add a blog where you can cut and paste and fill out info so we can get to know each other. I am planning on blogging on a topic once a week, and trying to get everyone to update once a week on their progress. We will have challenges, contests, etc.

I am trying to figure out how people can write back and forth, or blog besides just in the commenting section. I am researching blog authors and other options. If you know anything about conversation threads, multi person blogging, etc. please leave me a comment or let me know!

Hope to see you on our new blog :)

PCIT Therapy

Thursday was our 2nd PCIT (parent child interaction therapy) with Elijah....well, actually it was WITHOUT Elijah, it was a "parent training." Basically, I have to work with him 5 minutes a day, and during these 5 minutes he completely leads. Here is how it works: I tell him we are beginning our "special" time. I have a few things on the table that I have already set out that DON'T limit play and creativity (no puzzles, games w/ rules, etc) and I tell him he picks what he wants to play. I then follow his lead.

The first 6 weeks of therapy is child directed interaction. I am to work on just following his lead, not leading myself. That means AVOID commands, questions and critical statements during this 5 minutes (unless he is hitting, etc. then we immediately end "special" time). Instead I focus on P.R.I.D.E. (praise, reflect, imitate, describe, and enthusiastic).

I am to praise appropriate behavior very specifically, not just "you did a good job", but, "you did a really good job staying in the lines on that picture." I am to reflect appropriate talk, like if he says, "look mom, I drew a tree", then I would say, "yes, honey, you drew a green tree." I am also to imitate appropriate play. If he is coloring in the lines on a picture then I may say, "ooh, I like how you are staying in the lines, I am going to color like that too." and then I color my picture the same. I am also to describe appropriate behaviors, like if he is building a high tower w/ Lego's I may say, "You are building a SKYSCRAPER, a really tall tower!" And last, but not least, to be enthusiastic, letting him know I am enjoying our time together.

I am also doing this with Dacia and Lydia as well. We have only done 1 session, yesterday. These are homework assignments. I work on a particular skill until it becomes "natural" during play time. At the place they watch us in a one way mirror, and I have a bug in my ear and they direct me on what to say and do. I am really looking forward to becoming more positive and finding better ways to deal with Elijah's behavioral problems.

If you have any questions about anything let me know and I will try my best to answer! I'll let you know how it goes!
