Mcklinky Blog Hop: Recipe: Oreo Bon Bons!!!

SUPER YUMMY OREO BON BONS!

Buy: 1 pack oreos, 1 package (8oz) cream cheese, white and or chocolate almond bark.

Do: Crush whole package of oreos semi fine, mix with warm cream cheese (like 30sec in microwave). Roll into balls and put on wax paper. Freeze about 30-45 minutes. Melt chocolate (using both white and chocolate is best) in microwave following directions on package (hint: add a little Crisco, makes for easier dipping). Take cold balls from freezer and dip some of your balls in choc. and some in white choc. using a toothpick or something similar. Lay them back on wax paper, and when done dipping all the balls take a spoon and drizzle opposite color of chocolate on the balls, so drizzle white choc on choc. balls, and choc. on white choc. balls. Let stand until dry, about 10 minutes (enough to let outside dry, and inside melt) and serve! Yummy. It usually takes a few times until they are "perfect". It is worth it! Oh, and if you decide to use the white choc. and color for a shower or anything you have to use oil food coloring, or it ruins the ability to dip pretty. Enjoy :-)

Serving size: 1 bon bon (batch makes 45)

Busy Summer!

We have been so busy this summer and I have not had the chance to put up as many pictures and blog posts as I would have liked too.

As most of you know, my sister came down for a few weeks, and that was tons of fun! we really do have a good time together, acting silly. My older 2 kiddos also went to church camp with my husband this year. We went up and visited one night, and could tell they were really enjoying themselves. I hope to post a few pictures of these events soon!

Now, we are coming up on teen camp. We are all going. My husband is sponsoring the boys, and I the girls. This is a new experience for me, being a sponsor, with 3 of my 5 kiddos staying in the dorm with 14 teen girls! I was a little worried at first, and did not want to, but things just kept happening letting me know it was God's will that I sponsor the girls this year, so here we are, we're going to teen camp!

We leave Monday morning and will return on Friday. My sister, and her friend, Sarah, are coming up Sunday to stay the night with us. Then Monday we head out! They will stay Friday night, and maybe Saturday too. We may even go to Frontier City for a day of fun on Saturday!

The week following that we have the Brazillians, Kari and Kepler, coming to stay again....We can't wait! It is always so much fun to have them over. Although our house is small, there is always room for more to love! We plan on taking them to the drive in movies (which are so much more fun now that we have the huge back of a Suburban to lounge in) to see the new Harry Potter!

After Kari and Kepler leave for Brazil, we will have approximately one week before school starts! Can you believe that!?! Luckily we sold our van, we were discussing today how we were going to fund school supplies, football, school clothes etc. without having sold our van. I told my husband that we need to pray that the van sells...then, we sold our van! God is good!!!

Oreo Bon Bon Nutritional Information :) and Oops!

First of all, if you got my Mcklinky Three Things About Me emailed to you a million times I am sorry. I tried to spell check it and fix the errors, but for some reason it keeps publishing them without fixing them...it's making me nuts! I had to finally give in and just let it go!

Okay, off to more important things, Oreo Bon Bons. This is the data for both the doubles stuffed and mint ones. I used regular Oreos w/ fat free cream cheese and vanilla and chocolate almond bark:

Serving size: 1 bon bon (batch makes 45)
Calories each: 89
Fat each: 4g
WW Points each: 2
Fiber each: less than .5

Hope that helps :)

Mcklinky: 3 Things You Don't Know About Me

1. If we cannot afford it...we don't buy it. We do not own 1 credit card and have paid off or rid of approximately 50,000 in debt

2. We want to adopt when some or all of our children leave home.

3. We encourage our children to live with us through college, to help with purity and peer pressurs and to save money and stay out of debt.

"Don't Make Me Pull a Police Man Over!"

Police Car Pictures, Images and Photos

Tonight I wanted to share a few short stories of things that happened while my husband and older two children were at camp.

The background of the first story is this:
I let Lydia sit in the middle row of seats in Dacia's car seat while she was away. This is a booster, and Lydia figured out how to get out. Her and Elijah both had been in and out of the car seats the day before.

Well, Elijah had unbuckled and I told him he better buckle before I pull a police man over (which I have done before, btw). He buckled immediately, but then Lydia unbuckled. I repeated it, she did not comply, so I pulled off to the side of the highway to buckle her back in.

While buckling her I told her she had to stay buckled to be safe, and mommy did not want her to get hurt in a wreck or a police man to be worried for her and pull us over. I explained to both of them if mommy can't keep them safe, then the police man will.

Well, perfect timing, here came the lights. YES! I was sooooooo happy this nice police man stopped to check on us. I told him what was going on, and he went back about his business.

You should have seen the kids faces! Elijah looked like he had seen a ghost, and now both children believe me when I say a police man will pull us over to make sure they are safe if they are not in their car seats!

Background for the second story:
Every Thursday we pack a lunch and take it with us on our outing. We always go to the car wash and they have a picnic while I vacuum out the car. Well, as I said before, the older kiddos were at camp, so they were not there. Since Lydia was in Dacia's seat she could unbuckle herself. I got Elijah settled, and here came Lydia. I shut the door and set up their picnic. So, like the usual right? WRONG!

I go and start the vacuum and open my door, but it will not open. ALL OF THE DOORS WERE LOCKED! This is not even the worst part, the baby is inside and it is like 105 degrees outside! Luckily, my car was running, like usual when I vacuum out the car with the baby inside. It is to hot to not have the air on for 20 minutes.

So bad news, keys locked in car, baby in car...good news, air conditioning is on.

Well, I needed to call my insurance company, buy my phone was in the car. I peeked in the window to check on the baby and she sees me and starts crying. I felt so bad. I borrowed a ladies cell phone and told my insurance company the situation and to please send someone out fast. They said someone would be out within 2o minutes, but the phone call itself took like 15. I am thinking, it took about 5 minutes from the time I shut the door until I made the call, another 15 on the phone, and then another 20 til they come?!?

I was concerned that the air would stop being cool, so I kept balancing b/w watching the 3 and 4 year old outside and the baby, who kept screaming, inside. I tried to be sneaky when checking her, since she cried harder when she saw me, but it did not work. No matter which side I peeked at her from, she saw me! The good thing was she never got hot.

So, a lady next to me asks, "Are you locked in your car? Is there a baby in there?" I think she was about to tear into me until I assured her the air is on, and if she was to show any signs of getting hot, I would either call the police out or break a window myself to get her out. I would rather pay for a window any day than let any of my children sit in a hot car like that. She seemed a lot friendlier after chatting a minute, I would have been concerned too if I had overheard someone say they locked their keys in the car on a 100+ degree day with baby in it!

After about 20 minutes the guy came, opened it with a wedge and a bank envelope! WHAT! I could have done that! lol. The baby is screaming, still, so I get her out. We are all hot and sweaty (me, the locksmith, and the 2 older ones) and the baby is cold! She had the better end of the deal! lol Anyway, I hugged her, loved her, and of course had to nurse her before continuing my routine of cleaning out my car!

Needless to say, it was an exciting week. However, this kind of excitement I could live without! I just thank God, literally, for watching over us. We could have been in a wreck when we had our seat belt battles, or my car could have been turned off and I would have had to broken a window to get the baby out, potentially hurting myself or the baby. God is watching over us.

Comments Enabled Now!

For some reason a lot of my friends have been saying they cannot leave comments on my blog, and I was unsure why (and still am). I went in and changed a few things, and changed them back, and now we can leave comments! Yeah! Still not sure what was wrong though. lol

4th of July

***NOTE: Mcklinky post is 2 down***

This year for the 4th of July we traveled to Edmond, UCO to be exact. We had heard rumors that they have one of the best fireworks shows in the nation! They also free rides and stuff for the kiddos, however, with the crazy rain and hail we got, that was cancelled. However, we headed that way, stopped at Sonic, and went and hung out in front of the Forensic Science building.

The younger ones had fun standing in the car window watching everything going on. This was a one time deal with Dad! lol He was right there to keep them safe. They really did have a good time though!

The older kiddo, and my sister, Hannah decided to hang out in the vehicle for a while.

Shortly before the firework show began we decided to have a little fun!

Hannah, my sweet and light weight sister, thought it to be cool to hang in the stroller, that is until I pushed her out a ways and left her to fend for herself! lol It did not take her long to figure out how to push herself with her legs and steer herself back to the Suburban! lol

Here is a picture of all of us getting ready to watch the fireworks.

It really was a good firework show, one of the best we had been to in a long time! I tried to upload a video of the finale, but it was taking way too long.

We really had a good time and I enjoyed the time with my sister. Later I plan on doing a post on our time together the last few weeks. I love you Hannah :)

Back In Our Day......

MckLinky Blog Hop

Click here to enter your link in the blog hop and view the entire list of entered links...

(30 years later) "You think you have it bad? PLEASE! Back in our day we used to all 4 sleep in a full sized bunk bed on the weekends and watch movies on a 17" laptop."

A little background. We have 5 kiddos, 4 of which are old enough to either have pallet night or bunk in the boys room on the weekend. We only have one t.v. in our house, purposely, so it is a treat for them to watch a movie on the computer in their room. Usually we hook it up to our projector and watch it on the wall, but it was at our church. Anyways, I walked in and saw them all sitting there so nicely, getting along, and loving each other, so I had to go back and grab my camera. I couldn't believe they were still there like that! I love seeing the children like this, it will be good memories for sure :)
